Research Interests
We have two main fields in the lab: The molecular analysis of polarized growth and the analysis of the light response. We have characterized five kinesins in our laboratory and the last one, uncA, led to the discovery of different microtubule populations in the cell. In addition, we discovered several cell end marker proteins, known from S. pombe. For the light response we discovered that phytochrome plays a crucial role together with the WC-homologues LreA and LreB. We postulate a light-sensing protein complex composed of several photoreceptors.
